Jane Prentice (LNP) - Response to Internet Filter/SOPA letter

Another response, this time from Jane Prentice, the member for Ryan (my electorate near Brisbane, QLD).

The Gist:
"...the Coalition will continue to oppose Labor’s approach to regulating the internet and will continue to work with parents, ISPs and police to deliver common sense measures to protect young users from online content that is illegal or inappropriate."

Jane says "The Coalition" supports policies to protect young people from online threats through education and home-based filtering technologies.

Also slams the Labour Government, and Communications Minister Stephen Conroy.

Sandra Bayley (Greens) - Responding to "Internet Filtering / SOPA"

I recieved a response from Sandra Bayley, a candidate for the greens in my area.

The Gist:
"The Greens share many of your concern's over the Government's proposed Internet filter and the Stop Online Piracy Act."
Sandra also goes on to say that she's concerned about piracy and protecting children from harmful material on the Internet.

Australian Internet Filter, SOPA/PIPA and a Letters to my Elected Officials

Screw reading this, go STRAIGHT to the letter...

So did anyone actually read the link on the Wikipedia SOPA "Blackout" page? (Perhaps)

Did anyone notice the "What should I do now?" section? (Probably not)

Did anyone do anything about it? (Even less likely)

Will you assholes all whinge and whine when stupid legislation is passed by government (Most definitely)

YAY for apathy!

Anyhoooo...

Wikipedia has a note on it's front page suggesting that people write to their local representatives about these proposed American laws to "Stop Online Piracy (SOPA)" and "Protect Intellectual Property (PIPA)", also about our local "Net Filter" legislation that the Australian Government were trying to bring through last term...

I did what was requested, because I'm a sheep and do whatever Wikipedia tells me to do..

It's very long, and probably quite predictable and very boring so:
- Read or don't.. I don't really care and won't be offended if you can't be bothered :)

If you find it useful, feel free to copy/paste whatever sections you like on to any of your respective rants to your local politicians or facebooks.

You could also do a 'find and replace' and make the letter about something completely different, say 'coal seam gas' or 'live animal export' though it seems unlikely that it'll make any sense :)
