Subject: Re: Hello would be Senators - I have 4 quick questions.
I personally feel that the boat people issue is so over rated. Boat people have been coming here since Captain Cook visited and Arthur Phillip arrived with a fleet.
I favour humane treatment, automatic rejection of those found to be of a security concern, and those found to be Economic Refugees.
There are apparently far greater numbers flying in and simply going missing.
whichever way Australia goes, the world will be watching.

I also want greater Staffing of AQIS. In central Queensland an employee of a citrus farm dobbed this farm in for illegal imports of plant material. I seem to recall DPI staff etc not being allowed onto the property. Subsequently we had a huge citrus canker outbrake and this farm was one of 2 initial outbreaks.
better border protection, I'm with you.

The internet filter is a curly one.
If it is used to prevent the spread of terrorism and paedophile, good. but all other areas should be uncensored. Information and knowledge should be available to all.
I don't support what is reported in China. that is too far.

I have not seen the paper on Carbon pricing / ETS. however I understand the model presented by KRudd involves $17 Billion compensation to the big polluters.
no compo for lowest income earners.
should be the other way around.

Tax the polluters and compensate the lowest income earners.
use the tax (thats what it is) to build AUSRA and other Solar Clean non carbon power stations
legislate to give people a choice of green power as supplier.

Rate existing power stations by efficiency and phase out the worst first.
