I have had quite a long exchange of emails with Michael, if you read the page on my views you'll see that I disagree with him on a few of these issues.
BUT - I must say, as a political candidate, his responses and his attention have been quite impressive!
I spoke to him on the phone for about an hour, and we've had a few thousand words of correspondence!
He's articulate, well spoken, and thoughtful. It seems he is really doing the 'hard yards' working for every vote!
Nice guy, good politician, but I remain undecided.
Here's his first reply to the basic email. I'll post more later..

Happy to explain my views and feel free to vote for me or against me accordingly.
1. [Hardening up Border Protection Laws] - Anyone who comes here illegally should be sent home.
The boats should be brought to shore, where the people on board processed at once. They should be processed on-shore. Right now, billions are spent on their processing off-shore to avoid legal delay. These local legal appeal options should be abandoned. We can do this far more cheaper and speedier than dumping these people in the poorest parts of our region eg.... East Timor!!!
2. [The Internet Filter] - Against
3. [A Price on Carbon / ETS] - Against
4. [Gay marriage] - Against.
It might be of interest to you that on all the above, I have been a national driver when I was Opposition Whip. I was instrumental in Tony Abbott deposing Turnbull. My lobbying has played a part in the huge public pressure placed on Labor's Senator Conroy that he had to postpone the ISP Filter. I am against the mandatory nature of it.
Let me know if the others bother responding Nik. Have a good arvo!
Cheers
Michael.
