QLD Senate - Keith Douglas (Australian Fishing and Lifestyle Party) - Initial Reply

Keith Douglas (QLD Senate - Australian Fishing and Lifestyle) has replied. With a longer and more involved response.

Quick Summary:

  1. [Hardening up Border Protection Laws] For
  2. [The Internet Filter] Against
  3. [A Price on Carbon / ETS]  Against
  4. [Gay marriage] For (no opposition)

Full response below...

Hi,

My personal view

1.  We are an easy target for terrorist infiltration so current position worries me - system needs to a lot tighter and it is my view that the migration is driven by economic aspirations

2. I don't support censorship of the internet

3. A price on carbon - rather see practical approaches that make a difference - a tax is a burden for everybody and does not address the issue.  The science is not conclusive and the amount of corruption amongst scientists these days is a cause for alarm - we know that first hand with the Coral Sea Conservation zone - declaration was based on science that has since been discredited.  Global warming from CO2 has not been proven - it is a statistical deduction that may well be proven to be wrong in coming years.  Climate has always warmed and cooled.  Jury is out still on this one.  Nevertheless, energy conservation I support so if the fears are unfounded in the end, there will still be positive outcomes through improving energy efficiencies.  A tax on carbon - can't see China or India agreeing to it.

4. No opposition - people have a right to live their life how they see fit if they do not harm others.
